Workplace & Sexual Harassment

Workplace harassment is a serious issue. This can impact both the individuals affected by it and the organization. It’s important for companies to establish clear policies and procedures for addressing and preventing workplace harassment. Thus led to the enactment of the PoSH Act by the Indian government on 9th December 2013.

A few steps that can be done by organization to prevent harassment are as follows.

  1. Create a company culture that promotes respect and professionalism.
  2. Have a zero tolerance policy for sexual harassment cases which is gender neutral.
  3. Provide employee awareness training programs on a quarterly basis on what constitutes harassment and how to report it.
  4. Establish an Internal Committee to deal with cases arising out of sexual harassment.
  5. Ensure employees feel comfortable to raise their problems by having access to the Internal Committee.

Ultimately, creating a safe and respectful workplace environment is essential for both the well-being of the employees and the success of the organization.

By taking appropriate action when incidents do occur, companies can work to create a workplace that is safe and free from harassment.

It is not only the legal obligation of the company to provide a safe work environment but also it is the moral obligation of the company towards their employees.
