New Goals for the New Year

We are at the beginning of the new Year and I am sure all of us might have made some resolutions or the other. Every year we make resolutions but are we able to stick to them until the end of the year. Do we try and look back at the resolutions we made in the previous year and check what progress we have made? Most of the time we forget the resolutions even before we complete half of the year and there are times we tell ourselves that it is alright to break resolutions. But have we wondered what are the steps necessary to keep up to the resolutions. Sharing with you a few tips on what I plan to follow for the year 2022.

  • Make small but incremental goals which are time based and the outcome can be measured.
  • Make commitments that are realistic and which you are aware it is possible to achieve.
  • Ensure that you set goals under categories – family, education, profession etc. This helps you track and stay focussed towards achieving your goals.
  • Track the status of your goals on a monthly basis.
  • Share your goals with people who’s help you may need to achieve those goals
  • Be meticulous in marking or raising a red flag on goals you have not worked upon.
  • Reward / Treat yourself for every small achievement
  • Revisit your goals every 3 months to know your progress.
  • Divide the year into four groups of three months and set specific themes which are broad, directional and resonate with you as an individual. These themes can be like “quarter of learning”, “quarter of health”, “quarter of being organised” etc.  These themes help you focus on them especially in your free time and make you a better individual. They also help your brain to think differently and thus helping you become a better version of yourself.

The purpose of making resolutions is to ensure that they improve on certain aspects of their life and pay attention to the small things that bring happiness and joy. I have followed this method in setting my goals for 2022. I hope all of you would also follow these simple steps and make a change in 2022 to complete all your resolutions!
