All of us define and measure success differently. Some feel its is social recognition, some feel it is recognition in their field of work and some say they do it for family. But the secret ingredient to success is the ability of you to achieve the goals you have set for yourself and be happy through the journey you are having towards fulfilling your dreams. The current athletes who represented India in the Olympics and Paralympics at Tokyo 2020 , clearly shows the hardwork, grit and determination they have put in to achieve their dreams.
I was doing some research on what are the ingredients to success and came across a few common one’s which I would like to share.
- Hardwork: If you look from a business perspective, Narayan Murthy along with his set of friends who started Infosys worked really hard in the initial years of setting the company . Another example is Kiran Mazumdar, she too worked hard and had to deal a lot with politics and bias to make Biocon reach great heights in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Passion: If you look at sports, PV SIndhu or Neeraj Chopra both have really worked hard to win Olympic medals. But what sets them apart is their passion for the sport. Having passion for your work will ensure that you give it more than 100% and that is what will eventually lead to success.
- Persistence : Failures are part of life but constantly trying and never giving up is the secret to success. Roger Federer, one of the greatest tennis players we have seen and my favourite too had experienced a lot of failures during his childhood while he was still learning the sport. His persistence has led him to being so successful.
- Idea: Often it is about having that one unicorn idea that helps create a huge business empire. Like Mark Zuckerberg, who had an idea to have students use email and photos to communicate and connect with each other. This simple idea then grew up to know what we all refer too as Facebook.
- Positive mindset: Having a positive attitude is one of the key success factors. One cannot get disheartened by negative criticism and feedback given by people around you. You need to have self belief and that positive attitude will then have ripple affect on others around you.
Now that we know the secret ingredients that help us succeed, let us try to put this into practice . Wishing everyone who is reading this article the very best to succeed in every sphere of life.
