Importance Of A Morning Routine

All of us get up fresh in the morning after 8-9 hours of good sleep, yet some seem to be tired when they get up and some feel energetic and excited to get up. Have you ever wondered why? Research shows that when we get up with a smile and are eager to start the day we tend to have a productive day and when we get up being unhappy then chances are we may not have things going the right way. So, all of this brings us down to having a proper morning routine and being eager to perform the every day.

I too learnt about this just a few years back and have been practicing it since then. It helps you relax your mind as well as gives you time to plan your day. It can be called as your “me time” where no one disturbs you. My morning starts with a warm cup of water and doing some exercise. Post that I sip on piping hot coffee during which I plan for the day. This is the time I prioritize the list of things I need to do in the day . Once I am able to have a check list in my head it helps me complete my tasks as well as manage time more efficiently. The other benefits of having a morning routine are:

Time management: Once you have a routine set, you surely can manage your time more efficiently and have time for socializing with family and friends.

Positive attitude: When you are able to start your day with a happy and positive frame of mind you will continue to have that positivity through out the day which in turn would make you more productive.

Manage Problems: When you are calm, composed and relaxed you are able to manage problems and find solutions more easily be it personal or professional.

Appreciating nature: When you have ample time in the morning you can look outside the window to appreciate nature which we tend to miss with the hustle and bustle of our life. Looking and appreciating nature helps us relax and makes us calm.

Developing a hobby: When you have organized your time, you have time to develop a passion/interest/hobby which you always wanted to spend time for.

Improve relationships: Being calm helps you build good relationships and a healthy lifestyle.

Reduce stress: When you are able to complete your work on time then you would be less stress full thus less frustrated and more in control of your actions.

You can design your own morning routine which can range from talking to family, going for a shower, exercising, taking your dog for a walk, doing yoga / meditation, reading inspirational stories etc. I hope I have been able to make you think about your morning routine. If you don’t have one, it is never late to start.
